Catalogue Title: (1936) After Sunset : Lightly : The Charm of a well lighted Home — A new replica of the original sales samples brochure. Subject, Features: A delightful look at many different lamps and lighting options that were popular in the mid 20th century. This catalog shows many different lamp styles available to purchase wholesale for retail department stores, general merchandise, furniture stores and and other wholesale jobbers. Ideal catalog for collectors, builders, designers, restorers, or antiques dealers of novelty and finely made American lighting. Publisher, Details: Replica of the original trade samples catalog of decorative lamps and lighting. 24 pages, including covers, in very good, like new condition. — Glossy, flex covers, with spiral coil binding. Replica/reprint published by Portable Trunk Publishers. (undated) Circa 2012. Paper / Soft cover edition in very good, like new condition. Firmly readable. Flex covers, coil bound spine, a sturdy book. Overall wonderful copy, informative resource, a delightful book with minimal wear. General bookshop wear, may have some slight wear to edges and spine, stored flat. Would make a great gift for the fan in your life, even if that’s you. About the company: Lightolier was founded in 1904 by Bernhard Blitzer under the name of New York Gas and Appliance Co. When electric lighting started to be more widely accepted, the name was changed to Lightolier, a contraction of the words light and chandelier. In 2007, Philips Royal Electronics announced that it would acquire the Genlyte Group which would make Lightolier a part of Philips. In its early years, the company specialized in fancy decorative chandeliers, then made a shift to the high-end design and architectural markets in the 1920s. In the 1960s Lightolier introduced the first track lighting system, designed by the late Anthony C. Donato (a vertically integrated track, unlike the horizontal tracks of today). During this same period Lightolier began importing European designs, including that of Gaetano Sciolari. Also notable is the success of the Lytegem series, designed by Michael Lax, that has a place in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Lightolier is also known for its advanced reflector designs, and was the first lighting company to introduce digital lighting systems in the early 1990s. — Source: Wikipedia — Firmly readable, ideal for reference and collecting.
